In remembrance of Dr Frank Raimondo

Dr Raimondo passed away on 2 July after a short illness, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

A stern supporter and friend of Peace Parks for over a quarter of a century, Dr Raimondo actively participated in shaping and steering the growth and development of the organisation.  Renowned for his deep understanding of Africa’s conservation challenges and development opportunities,  he made an effort to visit every single project and protected area supported by Peace Parks.  A few years ago he embarked on a four-month 5 000 km journey as part of a support crew travelling across southern Africa.

Dr Raimondo announced his retirement from the Board in November last year. At the meeting, he stated that it had been a great privilege to be a part of the Peace Parks Board of Directors. He thanked the team, saying that he could retire with a sense of gratitude and optimism.

The loss of Dr Frank Raimondo is deeply felt by Peace Parks Foundation, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide our work in conservation and community development. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. His presence and guidance will be greatly missed.
