At a function in Lavumisa on Friday to mark the opening of the first construction tenders, the directors of Royal Jozini Big 6 announced the participation of a prominent South African property consortium in the development of the resort infrastructure and golf course.
The consortium is responsible for developing, amongst others, Champagne Sports Resort, one of the top golf resorts in the Drakensberg (www.champagnesportsresort.com); Plantations Estate, an upmarket estate with over 700 homes (www.plantations.co.za); Pumula Beach Hotel (www.pumulabeachhotel.co.za); The Heritage Shopping & Lifestyle Centre (www.heritagehillcrest.co.za), Lillies Quarter (a new shopping centre in Hillcrest) as well as various urban renewal projects in central Durban (www.urbanize.co.za).
The Champagne Sports Resort golf course is currently rated by Golf Digest as the 25th best golf course in South Africa.
LDM has entered into a joint venture with the Consortium to immediately develop the Royal Jozini Golf Estate and to construct the resort infrastructure with a target date of December 2008 for the completion of the first phase. Construction work will be fast-tracked, starting next month. The consortium will also oversee the various construction works that have been reserved for emerging Swazi contractors, while the legendary Peter Ridl will continue to act as LDM
